Project Introduction

Course overview

Managing Projects is quite a skill, indeed it is very much a profession. When dealing with more than a dozen tasks or so and the same again for resources, then using a piece of software to plan and track the project is all but essential.
Microsoft Project can be used on projects of all sizes, but an understanding of how it works is required to avoid frustration.

Microsoft Project helps the planning process using a variety of task types and the ability to set dependencies between them. Resources can be created to represent people, but also consumable and fixed costs, all tracked against a project budget. Resources are then assigned to tasks, where the impact of individual resource calendars can be seen graphically on a Gantt chart.

Tracking progress and reporting is also fully integrated into Microsoft Project.
