Delegates need to be proficient in written English to successfully complete the assessments. NEBOSH recommends that candidates undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 or higher in IELTS tests in order to be accepted onto an Award in Health and Safety at Work programme.

Full NEBOSH NGC Syllabus Guide
To achieve the qualification, learners must complete and pass the Unit HSA1 assessment. The aim of this assessment is for you to practically apply the knowledge and understanding that you have gained from studying the NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award. The assessment must be carried out in your own workplace.
The time allowed to complete the assessment is not restricted but NEBOSH suggest that you should aim to complete the assessment in 3 hours. Please note that the suggested timescales are for guidance only. You must use the template provided to complete the assessment.
The stages of the assessment are as follows:

- Management and processes
- Issues and actions
You must achieve the pass standard 45 out of 60 (75%) in this unit in order to pass the assessment and achieve the qualification
It is the delegate’s responsibility to submit their written assessment within the timescale given during the course, any assessments not returned by the deadline will result in the delegate failing the course.
On successful completion of the assessment, delegates will receive the NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification.
This qualification has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 5 with 3 SCQF credit points. SCQF Level 5 is comparable to NQF/QCF Level 2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The 3 day course runs from 9:00am through to 5:00pm. Refreshments are available from 8:45am.
