This course is suitable for anyone whose work requires them to enter a confined space, including employees, managers, supervisors and rescuers. The course is designed as an introduction to working safely in confined spaces and so no pre-requisite training is needed.
Course overview
A confined space is any area which is substantially enclosed and where there are risks to health and safety from hazardous substances or hazardous conditions.
Every year in the UK a number of people are killed or seriously injured due to working in confined spaces. UK legislation requires that if entry to a confined space is unavoidable risk assessments must be carried out, a safe system of work followed and emergency measures put in place. If you, or your employees, are required to work in confined spaces then regular training is recommended.
This 1 day course covers what a confined space is, key legislation, key responsibilities of employers and employees, the main hazards, assessing the risk, safe systems of work, key emergency arrangements and plant and equipment.
