Course overview
Face Fit Testing for disposable and reusable half mask respirators – at your location.
Employers should be aware that Face fit is a legal requirement and is covered by HSE legislation. Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) provided must be able to provide adequate protection for individual wearers.
Where respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is used, it must be able to provide adequate protection for individual wearers. RPE can’t protect the wearer if it leaks. A major cause of leaks is poor fit – tight-fitting facepieces need to fit the wearer’s face to be effective.
As people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes it is unlikely that one particular type or size of RPE facepiece will fit everyone. Fit testing will ensure that the equipment selected is suitable for the wearer (Health and Safety Executive).
RPE fit testing should be conducted by a competent person – you should take steps to ensure that person who carries out the fit test is appropriately trained, qualified and experienced, and is provided with appropriate information to undertake each particular task
Qualitative face fit testing is only suitable for disposable half masks and reusable half mask respirators. Full mask respirators cannot be tested using this method they have to be tested by the quantitative method.
Our testers are fully competent in qualitative testing and will provide all the equipment necessary to test your staff to ensure that adequate and suitable face masks have been provided. A certificate is issued to each individual.
Testing carried out on customers premises and tailored to meet the needs of your organisation.
