This course is aimed at learners who are working within environmental management and require detailed knowledge of environmental / sustainable principles, management tools and skills to effectively deliver positive change.
Learners attending this course are expected to have a foundation level of environmental / sustainability knowledge gained through work experience or a relevant course e.g. the ISEP Foundation Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management (AISEP) or equivalent.
Assessment
The Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the ISEP Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management (PISEP) course is 120 hours (excluding exams / assessments).
The delivery will be classroom based.
The course is delivered across 3 taught modules. Each module will be assessed through a written assignment that will be marked by the ISEP tutor at Jarrold Training. Learners will be required to submit an additional 4th assessment (Assessment of Competence) directly to ISEP, in order to complete the full course and achieve PISEP membership. The Assessment of Competence can only be submitted to ISEP after all 3 modules have been successfully completed.
This course is assessed in English.
Jarrold Training will support learners throughout the course period, from Module 1 through to completing the Assessment of Competence.
Candidates for whom English is a second language are advised that their reading and writing skills should be equivalent to at least Level 6 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Test for Non-Native Speakers of English. Candidates may obtain more information on this language testing service from the IELTS website (www.ielts.org).
Candidates for whom English is a second language may also apply for a Reasonable Adjustment.
Paper-based exams are only offered to ISEP Training Centres in exceptional circumstances and may incur additional costs. This can be applied for through the Reasonable Adjustment process.
Candidate Exam Registration
The ISEP centre (Jarrold Training) will register delegates for the course and the exams.
ISEP will accept learners Assessment of Competence up to two years after registering with ISEP to complete the course. If a candidate submits their Assessment of Competence after the two year deadline, they must complete the Practitioner exam to ensure their knowledge is relevant up to date. Candidates will receive log in details to their registered e-mail prior to their examination periods starting. Candidates are responsible for undertaking the examination in accordance with ISEP regulations.
Reasonable Adjustments
Reasonable Adjustments are made to ensure that candidates receive recognition of their achievement without compromising the equity, validity and reliability of the assessment.
They are not concessions to make assessment easier for candidates, nor advantages to give candidates a head start.
Candidates requiring a Reasonable Adjustments for their assessments must submit a Reasonable Adjustment Form at the earliest possible opportunity and no later than 15 working days (three weeks) prior to assignment dates or Assessment of Competence submission date, except in exceptional circumstances, e.g. injury in the days leading up to the exam.
Reasonable adjustments may include, but are not limited to:
- Permanent (long term) or temporary disability or medical condition
- Communication and interaction needs
- Where English is an additional language
Special Consideration
Special Consideration may result in an adjustment to the marks of candidates who have not been able to demonstrate attainment because of exceptional circumstances during the examination itself.
Candidates requiring Special Consideration for the examination must submit a Special Consideration Application within 5 working days of the examination, using the Reasonable Adjustment Form.
Malpractice
The fairness of the assessment depends upon all parties acting in good faith and adhering to the highest professional standards. Any evidence of deviation from such standards may lead to disqualification of candidates. Plagiarism and collaboration are considered to be malpractice. The Malpractice Policy can be found in the Examination Handbook. ISEP reserves the right to verify the identity of any candidate during the examination.
Re-sits
Candidates may re-sit the module assignments by re-registering through their ISEP Training Centre (Jarrold Training) and sitting the examination at the next available date. Assessments of Competence can be re-submitted either directly through ISEP or re-registering through their ISEP training centre (Jarrold Training).
There is no limit to the number of re-sits a candidate can take; the first re-sit can be taken free of charge but thereafter re-sit fees apply.
