Building a Network of Confident Trainers in the EoEETA
The East of England Endoscopy Training Academy (EoEETA) partnered with Jarrold Training to develop and deliver a bespoke Train the Admin and Clerical Trainer (TACT) programme. Designed specifically for NHS administrative and clerical staff, the programme brought together colleagues from across the region to build their confidence, skills and capability as trainers within their own services.
At A Glance:
- 51 delegates trained
- 17 NHS Endoscopy Services attended
- 5 NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Centres attended
- 4 training locations
- 5 programme cohorts
- 5/5 Delivery & Facilitation rating
- 4.8+/5 average participant ratings
- 9.8/10 average likelihood to recommend
The Challenge:
The East of England Endoscopy Training Academy needed to equip administrative and clerical staff across 22 NHS sites with the confidence and skills to train others, while maintaining the high standards of care and training expected across Norfolk, Suffolk and the wider East of England region.
That’s why Carly Porter, Training Academy Programme Manager, reached out to Jarrold Training about our Train the Trainer course.
From the outset, she highlighted some key challenges and non-negotiables:
- 45-50 Delegates from across 19 regional sites and 9 additional Screening Programme sites
- Must be in-house to bring colleagues from different Trusts together
- Option to customise the content from the public course
- Delivery before March 2026
She also mentioned their new Professional Development Lead for Administration, Megg Allison, was looking at attending our public course to get a sense of our training style and whether we were the right fit.
Luckily for Carly, she came to the right place.
The Partnership:
After an initial meeting with Elliot Symonds, our Head of Learning and Development, Megg attended our Train the Trainer course that September to get a sense of what we had to offer.
I really enjoyed this training. It was informative, engaging and allowed for group work and individual reflection. I would highly recommend this course and have learnt a lot of positives from the trainer’s teaching style. I feel it was a worthwhile spend and that I can bring a lot back to the team. Thank you for today!!
Megg Allison, Professional Development Lead for Administration, EoEETA
Following the positive feedback from Megg’s experience on the public programme, the Academy was confident that Jarrold Training could deliver a tailored solution that met the needs of their administrative and clerical teams.
So, Elliot dived headfirst into working with Carly and her team on developing a bespoke Train the Admin and Clerical Trainer (TACT) programme to roll out just two months later.
The bespoke programme covered:
- The Ideal Trainer (vs. Coach/Mentor/Teacher)
- EDIC/P, Kaizen, and Learning Cycles
- Pedagogy vs Andragogy
- Bloom’s Taxonomy
- Learning Styles & Personality Types
- Formative vs Summative Assessment
- Kirkpatrick Evaluation
And would be delivered:
- In groups of 12-13 with delegates from different Trusts
- Across 4 different locations: Norwich, Cambridge, Hemel Hempstead, and Basildon
- To a total of 51 delegates

The Impact:
The programme achieved consistently high feedback scores across every cohort:
- 5/5 average score for delivery and facilitation,
- 8+ average ratings for programme content, skill development, and atmosphere,
- 8/10 average likelihood to recommend the programme to others
These scores were reinforced by delegate feedback, as each cohort came away from the day feeling “totally engaged throughout the whole session”, with “easy to remember” knowledge that “will definitely benefit me with my mentorship and training”.
I have attended other courses related to training but this has to be the most useful and best presented course. It was interactive, included group work and discussion and was highly relevant.

The Legacy:
Just one month after the final cohort completed the programme, Deputy Clinical Director Rachael Follows wrote to thank the team for the impact the training had made across the region:
On behalf of East of England Endoscopy Training Academy, I want to express our heartfelt thanks for the exceptional Train the Admin and Clerical Trainer (TACT) programme you delivered.
Your five courses, reaching out to over 50 staff has given new-to-training trainers the confidence to step forward and deliver back in highly pressurised healthcare environments with clarity, creativity, and purpose.
The training was challenging in all the right ways, yet fun, engaging, and wonderfully interactive. Our participants felt supported, stretched, and energised. Participants had a high confidence in the value of the programme, and a strong willingness to recommend the training to colleagues.
Thank you for your professionalism, your warmth, and your genuine commitment to helping our teams grow. You’ve made a lasting impact, and we look forward to continuing this partnership.
With best wishes,
Rachael Follows
The success of the EoEETA TACT programme is evidence of how strong collaboration between a client and their training provider is greater than the sum of its parts. By investing in their people, the East of England Endoscopy Training Academy has created a network of confident trainers who can continue to support learning and development across the region.
