Course Aims:

This course covers basic techniques of First Aid. It is designed to meet the minimum standards required by the current Health and Safety (First Aid) 1981 regulations.

Delegates are assessed throughout the course by the tutor and the practical and theoretical skills must reach the standard required by the HSE.

At the end of the course delegates will receive a Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate that is valid for three years.

This course is suitable for anyone who needs to gain a basic knowledge of emergency First Aid principles

This course is predominantly practical based.

  • First Aid Scope and Aims and Protocols.
  • Analysis of "Approach to an Incident".
  • Treatment of the Unconscious Casualty, with demonstration and group practice of Recovery Position.
  • Asphyxia (Choking, Smoke Inhalation, etc.) with demonstration of treatment for choking.
  • Practical Demonstration of Resuscitation and class practice of BLS.
  • Control of Bleeding, recognition and treatment of shock with group practice.
  • Accident Book and contents of a first Aid Box.
  • Minor Injuries
  • Review and feedback session.
